Edinstvo - Fashion Factory - Tetovo
EDTKO was founded in 1953 under the name Modna Konfekcija EDINSTVO. In 1988, the name was shortened to EDTKO (translating in English to United Textile Sewing). Specializing in lightweight textile clothing, EDTKO is able to produce a variety of goods, such as sport uniforms, men's and women's dress shirts, men's and women's sleepwear, and other products.
EDTKO is located in Tetovo, Macedonia, the former republic of Yugoslavia, and occupies 50,000 square feet of production. During the Cold War, EDTKO employed 1,600 employees and required three shifts of production in order to meet their customers' needs. EDTKO was successfully able to produce 300,000 pieces of textile a month. In 1991, the end of the Cold War separated Yugoslavia's six republics and the economy of the country began to gravely suffer. EDTKO lost many of its western markets during this time. Fortunately, Germany, Greece, Holland, and England remained loyal to EDTKO.
EDTKO was owned by shareholders until July 25, 2005. The company became privately owned when 72.06% of its shares were purchased by Zlate Oncevski from Detroit, Michigan, USA. The other 27.94% of EDTKO are now owned by the hard workers of EDTKO.
Today, EDTKO has 380 employees; each employee is medically insured and has employment benefits. Under the new privatization, EDTKO's first goal is to continue producing high quality products and maintain its reputable reputation within the textile industry. EDTKO will continue to meet Europe's standards in labor relations, work ethics, and work conditions. Future plans for EDTKO are to penetrate new markets for the prosperity of the company and its employees.
